What is on the template?

How do you use the template in a match?

  1. Write the date, the batter’s hand and the bowler at the top.
  2. List your 11 players in the table.
  3. Write each player’s position next to their name, using the dots on the diagram as a guide.
  4. Use the notes column for reminders such as "keeper up" or "third man fine".
  5. Print one copy for each situation, for example the powerplay and the death overs.

What about a left-hand batter?

The diagram is drawn for a right-hand batter. For a left-hand batter the off side and leg side swap, so write the batter’s hand at the top and read the names mirrored. The left-hand batter guide explains how, or use the planner, which mirrors the field for you.

Is there an online version?

Yes. The free planner lets you drag your own players onto the field, save plans and share them as a link, with no sign-up. The template is for when you want paper.

Does the template include fielding restrictions?

No. Limits on fielders differ between competitions, so write your own in the notes column. For the ICC limits see T20 and ODI fielding restrictions.
